About me
My name is Natasja Admiraal, an experienced freelance journalist and writer specializing in fashion, art, and culture. During my fashion studies at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, I took my first steps into journalism. I write interviews, in-depth articles, and trend reports, continuously keeping up with developments in my field, conducting research, identifying trends, and visiting (inter)national fairs and exhibitions.
Books
In 2021, my children's book Mode ABC was published by Waanders Publishers. This alphabet book offers a playful and insightful introduction to the diversity and evolution of fashion. In 2023, Hair – 150 hairstyles, beards, and mustaches followed, a richly illustrated lexicon about the history of hairstyles in different cultures. Earlier, I collaborated with Waanders Publishers on a book about the work of designer and artist Claes Iversen. For the publisher Schoolsupport, I write educational non‑fiction books for young readers.
School visits
In addition to my writing work, I visit primary schools across the country through De Schrijverscentrale to promote reading. During these author visits, I combine storytelling with creative workshops, which has deepened my passion for education and arts education. Fashion serves as an inspiring tool to encourage children in their creative expression.
Art education
Since 2023, I have also been working as an art teacher for Stichting Kunsteducatie De Rode Loper op School. Together with visual artist Francesca Vonck, I develop tailor-made lesson series for Collection Amsterdam. Through these projects, my passions for visual art, language, and fashion converge at the intersection of art. Currently, we are working towards the KinderKunstBiënnale 2025 at the OBA, the celebratory finale of Collectie Amsterdam. As guest curator for this professionally organized exhibition, we help shape the artistic content, design, communication, and secure the right collaborative partners.
